Weekend work - Day 44

They crew returned today to put another clear coat on our hardwood. We just weren't totally happy with the finish. The contractor is so awesome ... his exact words were "not a problem, it will be done". True to his word they came back today (Saturday) for a fourth clear coat. This did delay the contractors' finish work last week since they couldn't start on our baseboards, doors and door trim, or even the toe kicks on the cabinets. Oh well - better now than later.

The last clear coats on the floors. The fumes are a bit much, but it is nice and cool right now so we've turned on every fan and opened the windows to get it out!

Another fan blowing the air around trying to encourage drying and get rid of smells.
Yes - they are the same colour floors - just looks differently in different lighting.

The floors cannot be walked on for at least 24 hours, but it will be longer for Maddy and her little toenails.  We humans have to go outside the front door and into the garage to get to the basement.

Here is Maddy, banished again to the upstairs.
We just take her with us when we move from upstairs to the basement.

The other person who has been busy today is Eric. He installed our accent wall of wallpaper in our bathroom. Truthfully, we bought it in the hopes that every single water drip mark would not show on it like it did with paint. The wallpaper was much easier to hang without the door or any baseboards in the way! This wallpaper was the "paste on the wall" type - very easy to hang and no drippy water mess.

Powder room with new wallpaper.

Then Eric re-installed the mirror and towel rack.
If we only had a door, it would be fully ready to use.
