Next weekend is demolition day so I've been biding my time doing smaller things. Just enough to satisfy me but not so much as to disrupt the household (yet). I decided to take off the upper cabinet doors to start.
Then, last week I decided to take up the laminate flooring that we had put in before Parker was born. What a piece of cake to rip out. Came up just like Lego... well maybe a bit larger than Lego but you get the point. Also I found out how easily the laminate flooring would actually break. You are probably thinking ... why remove the laminate flooring so early? Well before we had the laminate installed, Eric drilled into the old linoleum and sub floor approximately 200 screws to finally eliminate the squeaky floor. It worked but I knew it would take some time and effort to get them all out before we removed the laminate and sub floor. This is a picture of me on our old linoleum flooring removing all those screws.
Parker, who had never seen the linoleum, came down the stairs, froze at the sight of the linoleum and promptly and loudly announced " Wow - that is ugly!!!!" Parker - we all agree with you.
Also here are some photos from Adam's staircase renovation project. It is going well as you can see. All the messy sanding is done now. He is staining and sealing every other stair, then will go back and do the same for the other set of every other stairs. This so we can still use the stair case (so we can get to our bedrooms) by stepping on every other stair.
